Father’s Day is coming up, and Sacramento knows how to do it right. There are food spots for the dads who love a great brunch, record stores for the music collectors, and plenty of events for anyone who just wants to get out and enjoy the weekend.

We also wanted to highlight Balance Beerworks, a new brewery bringing a familiar group of local beer folks back together. It is a cool reminder that some of the best neighborhood spots start with people who simply love where they live.

Cheers to a great week!

🍺 Fresh pours and a fresh start

The Gist: Balance Beerworks officially opened its doors earlier this week. Launched by five former Device Brewing Co. employees and their spouses, the new family-run spot hosted a big two-day grand opening filled with food trucks and fresh pours. The team is starting out with eight community-focused brews plus a few custom hard seltzers.

Why It Matters: When Device abruptly shut down last year, it shook our local beer scene, but this comeback is a true labor of love for the neighborhood. These neighbors are keeping things small, nimble, and family-operated to give our community a cozy, dog-friendly gathering space we can call our own.

⚽ The World Cup takes over Levi's Stadium

The Gist: Levi's Stadium is hosting six 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, bringing an incredible lineup of international soccer right to Northern California. The action kicked off with Qatar playing Switzerland on June 13. If the U.S. Men's National Team manages to win Group D, they will even head to town to play their Round of 32 knockout match right here on July 1.

Why It Matters: Having the world's biggest sporting event right in our backyard is a massive moment for Northern California, transforming our neighborhood into a vibrant, global hub. It’s a rare, unifying opportunity for local families to witness sports history firsthand.

What's Next:

  • June 19: Turkey vs. Paraguay at 9:00 PM

  • June 22: Jordan vs. Algeria at 8:00 PM

  • June 25: Paraguay vs. Australia at 7:00 PM

  • July 1: Potential Team USA Round of 32 knockout match

🍳 Comfort classics with a side of sunshine

1116 15th St, Sacramento

Cafeteria 15L is downtown’s trusted comfort-food anchor, masterfully pairing a modern lunch-counter energy with two leafy patios. For Father's Day, the kitchen serves a hearty brunch skillet loaded with smoked brisket, hot links, eggs, and cornbread finished with rich cowboy butter.

The regular menu holds its own too, featuring legendary chicken and waffles alongside a June cocktail list built for high summer.

🎧 For the dad who still remembers his first album

2475 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento

Phono Select Records has been buying, selling, and trading vinyl and CDs since 2010. If the dad in your life still talks about his first album, point the car toward Fruitridge Road.

Owner Dal runs the Hollywood Park independent shop like a clubhouse, ready to steer you toward a record whether Pops loves classic rock or deep hip-hop obscurities. Grab a gift certificate and let him enjoy an afternoon of crate-digging.
