Summer is in full swing, and Sacramento is giving us plenty of reasons to get out of the house. Whether you're planning a family day at Fairytale Town, catching a concert, or trying a new restaurant, there's no shortage of ways to enjoy the season.

📜 Fairytales hit Capital Stage for the Apprentice Showcase
The Gist: Capital Stage’s 11th Annual Apprentice Showcase is officially underway with a production of The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, running now through July 21, 2026. The 50-minute comedy features a local four-person cast racing through all 209 Grimm fairy tales in one fast-paced story.
Why It Matters: This is a fun chance to cheer on Sacramento’s next generation of theater talent after a year of work behind the scenes. Performances are on Tuesdays and select Sundays, and tickets are free to reserve online before you go.
🛹 X Games Made Its Sacramento Debut
The Gist: Sacramento hosted the inaugural MoonPay X Games League event at Cal Expo from June 26 to 28, bringing more than 100 of the world's top skateboard, BMX, and Moto X athletes to the city. The three-day festival featured 18 medal events, live music from Kaskade and Mustard, and a $500,000 prize purse. Nearly 5,000 hotel room nights were booked during the event.
Why It Matters: Sacramento was chosen as the league's kickoff city, not a stop along the way. That distinction puts the capital on the map for a new category of major sporting events and positions Cal Expo as a venue with serious national draw.
