Hi neighbors,
This week our family checked out Rock & Brews in Sacramento, and it turned out to be one of those perfect summer nights.
We started with dinner, and it definitely delivered. Great burgers, pizza, cold drinks, and plenty of options for everyone. The atmosphere was casual, energetic, and family-friendly—with rock music playing in the background and lots of outdoor seating.
But the real highlight? The mini golf.

Instead of stopping after one round, we played all 36 holes. That's right... 36 holes of trash talk, lucky bounces, impossible putts, and a few "I swear that should've gone in!" moments. By the second course, everyone was fully invested in the competition.

What I love about places like this is that they're simple. You don't have to spend a fortune or plan an elaborate vacation to make great family memories. A good meal, some laughs, and a little healthy competition can be all it takes.
If you're looking for something fun to do with the kids, grandkids, or even a date night with a competitive twist, I'd definitely recommend giving Rock & Brews a try.
Sometimes the best nights are the ones where the only thing you're keeping score of is who has to buy dessert after losing at mini golf.
Have a great week!

🎸 Aftershock and GoldenSky are staying put through 2035

The Gist: The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved a 10-year agreement with Danny Wimmer Presents, the promoter behind Aftershock and GoldenSky, locking in up to three multi-day festivals a year at Discovery Park through 2035.
Why It Matters: Aftershock alone drew more than 164,000 fans from all 50 states and 30 countries in 2025, with an estimated $35 million in local economic impact. GoldenSky returns in 2027 under a separate three-year deal.
What's Next: The agreement includes up to $300,000 in early site improvements at Discovery Park, including parking upgrades under Interstate 5.
💥 Fireworks booths now open across West Sacramento
The Gist: “Safe and sane” fireworks are officially on sale as of Sunday, with eight permitted booths operating across West Sacramento. If you want your purchases to give back, Uriah Clark is running a stand for the West Sacramento Bears Youth Football, Cheer, and Dance program at 1601 West Capitol Ave.
Why It Matters: Buying your sparklers locally is a huge help for neighborhood families this year. Proceeds from the West Sacramento Bears booth go directly toward lowering sports registration fees, keeping youth programs affordable and safe for our kids. It is the perfect way to prep for the holiday while supporting the community.

🍦 The legacy scoop that never went out of style

2801 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento
Summer in Curtis Park officially peaks when you’re sharing scoops on a tailgate under the glow of Gunther's Ice Cream’s Jugglin’ Joe. A neighborhood fixture since the 1940s, they still spin an ultra-creamy, historic recipe.
For the perfect Fourth of July tradition, grab a real-fruit mango Freeze layered half-and-half with vanilla before they close early on the holiday. It is pure, timeless Americana in a cup.

🐸 Curious eyes, big trees, and so much more

3930 W Land Park Dr, Sacramento
The Sacramento Zoo is hosting $10 Community Days on July 3 and 4, cutting regular admission nearly in half. It is a great weekend to wander the shaded paths, check out the new juvenile, red-eyed tree frogs in the reptile house, and cool off by the misters.
This institution has been a fixture of our summers since 1929, housing over 130 species. Of all the holiday-weekend deals around town, this one is an easy yes!
