Happy June, Sacramento!
The calendar may say summer is still a couple of weeks away, but someone should probably tell the weather. Between riverside adventures, blooming poppy displays, and packed event calendars, the season has clearly arrived.

We've rounded up some of the best events happening around town this week, along with a few local stories worth keeping an eye on, so just keep scrolling! ✨

📋 Sacramento to host free missing persons event

The Gist: The California DOJ is hosting its first Find CA Missing event this Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at California State University in Sacramento. Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the free event to help families connect with investigators, file new reports, and update existing cases.
Why It Matters: Dealing with the prolonged uncertainty of a missing loved one can be an incredibly devastating and isolating experience for our neighbors. This gathering brings the community together to rekindle hope and provides a vital, cost-free opportunity to get updated details or DNA samples to investigators.
🦒 Sac Zoo adjusts plans after neighbor feedback
The Gist: The Sacramento Zoological Society released updated concept drawings for its proposed 5.8-acre expansion in William Land Park after hearing feedback from neighbors. One of the biggest changes: the revised plans remove the historic Charles Swanston memorial fountain and statue from the proposed northern expansion area. The zoo has submitted the updated blueprints to the city as conversations about the project continue.
Why It Matters: For Land Park neighbors, the Swanston fountain is part of the park’s long history, so its future is a real point of concern as the zoo expansion moves forward. The revised plans show how feedback is already shaping the conversation, and locals will likely be watching closely as the city review process continues.
